HALL 601 – The first day of the ELC was packed with exciting singers from different countries. “The Maestro” Alvaro Sanchez awed the crowd with his tantalizing guitar play. The crowd often burst into applause at his unique blend of Latin American and Christian worship music.
“I’ve heard him before in Israel,” said Jessica Yeo from Armour Publishing, “and I have his CDs. His harp playing is even better than his guitar playing. It’s unique and not many people know how to play it.”
Homegrown talent Kelvin Soh, former drug addict and a “Changi prison hotel guest” for many years, is now sharing the Gospel in songs. Despite being “Hokkieneducated,” Kelvin shared the testimony in crisp English of how he, his grandmother, and father were all saved by God. The crowd was thoroughly touched by what God had done for them.
Juwita Suwito from Malaysia, an ELC veteran, performed a captivating song she wrote titled “All This Time”. During her song, foreign delegates could be seen taking photos of the singer – just like a real-live concert! Said Edmund Low from Malaysia, “I’ve heard of her, but this is the first time I’ve seen her. She has a powerful voice, and the way she sings touches people.”
Champ, the musical representative from Thailand, is a professional musician who has worked with several Thai artists and is a DJ with Met 107 in Thailand. His performance of “Amazing Grace” and a self composed song “My Cry” showed the talent that God has blessed him with.
